72-74 Austin St.

Being that 7262 Austin is the end of the 72 numbers, I guess he lives on the white line in the middle of Ascan. :-))

But he moved out over a year ago and lives on the upper west side.

"dreadlock man" is Lloyd Offen, Elliot Offen's brother. They both inherited several million dollars however Lloyd refused the money.Lloyd was arrested several years ago for trespassing, he had over 2000 dollars in change in his cart.

I see the tall monster truck driver almost every time I walk on Austin. He seems to have destroyed vocal cords and has to project a raspy wisper when he talks. He hangs with a lady friend occassionally and quite often with another Austin St. regular who does not seem all that together. Kinda interesting how everyone finds someone to befriend, nice that way. He parks nightly on 68 Dr. around 108 & 110 st. It is an awsome old truck, looks invincible.

I also saw Elliot Offen in front of the mirror at that fair, the cops instead of doing something about the indecent exposure thing were just staring in shock...

I am rather happy Dreadlock Man is MIA, he used to change clothes and 'use the bathroom' openly in the street. Anyone else heard about him being a rich wacko and having his shopping cart filled with cash?

As for the black guy who walks around yelling and ranting about the "white man is keeping me down", that dude is scary...

Was the 108th street guy and old man that was drunk and used to weave in and out of traffic with a bottle of booze wearing an army jacket? I think we used to call him "the general".
I saw Paul the photographer handing out his cards on QB yesterday. What a loser.

Does anyone know anything about the guy who wears tight jeans, platforms, and drives a monster truck?

How about Howard Stern's own, Elliot Offen? The king of wierdos used to stomp up and down the block in a tu-tu and stockings. One time, during the street fair, I saw him doing an exercise routine in front of a mirror he set up on 71st and austin. He was selling half-naked pictures of himself -- that'll make you not eat for a week.

oh yeah, Paul the photographer who hands out his cards with his color photo on them. Wears shorts in the summer and within no time the street is littered with his cards on the floor. Like someone would really use him. Right.
What about garbage can man who is slim, army jacket, white balding, with beard who is always digging in the garbage cans on Austin? He's been around for a long time. If you look him in the eye, he will lock eyes with you. A bit scary.

What about the crazy photographer with the pony tail who's always out in shorts on Continental and Austin?

Mello- You couldn't make these people up if you tried! I think this area breeds 'em. My fave was always Bizzaro Santa. He's rail thin with a long, scraggly gray beard and (sometimes)tattered clothes. He used to have fits where he'd do some kind of violent 'chicken dance' and mumble to himself.

I used to see Extremely Happy Asian Man all the time but not for quite a while now. I always remember him laughing out loud and wishing I knew the joke so I could join him....

Marty is balding, and has dark hair. He is sloppy looking. I guess he lost his car. If it is him, he will tell you all you want to know about monsters. "nickel, quarter, dime" was an old lady who sat at the top of the subway steps by Wendys on Continental. Maybe she died. I havent taken the subway regularly in about 9 years. Does anyone else know the Extremely Happy Asian Man? His territory is Metropolitan ave around Sizzler.

If Marty is a balding, paunchy, kinda sloppy looking fellow, that talks to himself and shakes his head alot, he is still around the Austin Street area. Dreadlock man must be in Florida for the winter and blind keyboard man who used to hang out on Roosevelt Avenue in Flushing until Caldor closed then moved to Continental, may be with dreadlock man. Is the nickel, quarter, dime person an older black man with a big belly that used to stand at the top of the 67th avenue subway station and say "can you spare 50 cents for something to eat"? He was always shirtless.

Has anyone seen him lately? He's the guy who would drive around in an old black Crown Victoria all day. My first encounter with him was 10 years ago in the library by Queens Boulevard when he was really cuckoo. I let him talk to me about the Nandi Bear, a mysterious creature in Africa. Then I saw him alot around 97,98,99 in south Forest Hills near Metropolitan and Union Turnpike, occasionally parked and reading books about monsters. Its been a few years since I've seen him. Anyone know who I'm talking about?
My other favorite guy is the happy asian guy, who's always really really happy, smiling, and likes to say the names of cars in the street, occasionally singing. He's always well dressed too. Anyone know either of these men? They're awesome. Other notables are "Dreadlock Man", "Blind Keyboard Man", ""Nickle, Quarter, Dime, any change anybody?" at the subway steps Lady" Thanks. And all of these people are real. I didnt make any of this up.
