There's a free walking tour of Forest Hills Gardens on Saturday, June 1 conducted by the Central Queens Historical Society. It's from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and it starts and ends at Station Square (Burns St. and Continental Ave.) For further information call (718) 896-4416 or (917) 376-4496. |

This is the first poster again-- I am not sure if FH has a historical society. If not, they should start one. I know that Kew Gardens does, and they published a great little book about the neighborhood, which is what got me interested in FH... I just assumed they had a historical society as well... I agree about the tennis stadium by the way. I often go walking through the Gardens and am struck by the beauty of those homes. I would absolutely love to see the insides though!! I know that other communities like Yonkers--which also has some really fabulous old homes--have tours that serve as fundraisers for a certain neighborhood cause. Perhaps we can start one up with proceeds going towards the tennis stadium??? Does anyone know the range of some of those attached row houses in the gardens--the ones on Burns, or just past the LIRR station? Are they absolutely outragous? I absolutely love living in Forest Hills--how nice it would be to buy a place in the Gardens!! |

I didn't even know if there is such a society in Forest Hills Gardens. If they do exist they stay under a low profile. I have not heard of any such tours though. However, you do not need a ticket to walk the streets of Forest Hills Gardens. So, why not take yourself on your own tour. PS...If by chance there is such a society as the FH Historical Society - tell them to get working on the Forest Hills Tennis Stadium - it needs protecting! |

I was wondering if the FH Historical Society ever has tours of some of the fine homes in the Gardens as a fund-raiser? |
